A House Hunting We Will Go

I’ve been a bit preoccupied as of late due to several reasons. Family’s in town, daughter here for the summer, fixing up my house and looking to move. It’s been rather maddening with all the work being put into this place getting it ready to sell. On the bright side though, I think my wife and I have found our future home.
The living room located right off the entrance is beautiful, with great hardwood floors through the whole house. There’s very little to complain about in fact when it comes to the floors. Sure they could use sanded and re-finished at some point in time but really they’re great for now. Also I love the rounded top door. It’s an old sucker with quite a bit of weight to it. Only down side is it would suck to replace it if the need ever came up. I doubt it would though.
The kitchen however is on the small side but my wife and I have a different view on houses than it seems everyone else does. I know you watch HGTV, with all their renovation shows and whatnot. I know that I do. Have you noticed how absolutely massive the kitchens and bathrooms are anymore in houses? It’s just too much for us, at least in respects to bathrooms. We’re not the type to spend hours lounging in the bath, there’s really no time for all that.
Now, as for this room, it at one point in time was a covered patio of sorts however it is going to make a great room for my office. If you look at the very first image in this blog post you’ll see the two glass French doors, which used to lead outside onto this patio. Since then it has been closed in and a wonderful rounded window was put in the place of the opening. On the down side, who ever did it placed no seals at the bottom to allow water to run AWAY from the window (and walls) so there is water damage. It’s nothing that I can’t fix nor is it anything that I won’t be fixing the way it should be. Unfortunately that means removing the window and rebuilding it almost from the ground up to ensure that it’s all done correctly.
This isn’t a done deal though, just a wish for the most part right now. We still have to prep our current house in pretty quick order for showing and sale and we have to place a bid on the other and even with a bid in it’s hard to say if the owner will accept our offer. My hope is that she will though as the work I could do on it would truly do the house justice. I’m not one to do things half way.
Wish us luck!
